On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. His resounding phrase of 'Let freedom ring' and 'I have a dream' statements stirred Americans to action with the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
